It’s Not Too Late to Take a 2011 New Hampshire Motorcycle Safety Course

The New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) works with area educators to provide basic, intermediate, and advanced training courses for bikers who want to learn how to handle a motorcycle safely, or who want to learn advanced techniques to better protect themselves and their passengers from accidents and falls. These courses run from April through the end of October, so there’s still time to take a course – and improve your motorcycle safety – before winter rolls around.

The courses offered by the New Hampshire DMV are based on courses developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. The basic course teaches the fundamentals of safe riding for those who are new to motorcycles. The skills taught in this class can help a rider pass the basic skills test the DMV requires before granting a motorcycle license or endorsement. The intermediate course helps riders refine their skills or get more practice before the skills test. The advanced course is limited to riders with at least one year and/or 2000 miles of riding experience.

Basic courses are currently scheduled for October 3, 4, and 5, and an intermediate rider course will be held on October 11. For more information, visit the Division of Motor Vehicles website at http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/dmv/motorcycle/index.html.
